Celebrating Outstanding Community Official Service

The ND match officials group introduced a long-service award programme at their off-season hui recently, inducting those with outstanding service records beyond 10 years. Cricket would simply not happen in our communities without the hours of service from passionate umpires and scorers.

50-year service award

Bill Anderson - Scorer

Bill served BOP, ND and NZC for over half a century from club to national level and trained and mentored many scorers over his career.

40-year service awards

Phil Rice - Scorer

Phil is still and active scorer after 40 years of loyal service to his club, Hamilton Cricket and ND.

Rod Newton - Umpire

After 40 years of service Rod is still actively involved in age group tournaments where he also helps mentoring younger umpires. Rod served on club, regional and national level in Wellington and ND.

30-year service award

Glenn Schache - Umpire & Scorer

Better known as Magoo, he served from club to regional level in Counties Manukau and ND and is an active observer, CM board member and mentor to many. Magoo also keeps our archives up to date and is a great servant of the game.

Special recognitions

We would also like to recognise and honour 30 years of service to Tank (Anthony) Edwards and 20 years of service to Geoff Ogle who both recently passed and have been involved with Northland Cricket umpires until their passing.
