Northern Districts Cricket has appointed Luke Pomfret as the organisation’s new Performance Coach & Female Talent Lead.

Luke brings over a decade of coaching and cricket development experience across multiple countries, including the UK, New Zealand, and Barbados. “I’m looking forward to building great relationships with the players and bringing my range of experiences into the group to keep driving us forward,” Pomfret said.
“I’ve really enjoyed travelling around New Zealand and experienced some incredible places and grounds.”

Luke's coaching philosophy is to ‘work in partnership with players to create an environment where individuals can express themselves, be curious, and develop their skills.’ and the community is looking forward to the impact Pomfret will make.

Head of Cricket Ian Sandbrook said Pomfret was the outstanding candidate throughout the recruitment process.

“Luke’s extensive experience in building female pathways and coaching within high-performance programmes made him the ideal person for this role,” Sandbrook said.
“I’m very excited about the impact Luke can have across our wider ND community and within our performance environments.”

Pomfret’s appointment reinforces Northern Districts’ commitment to strengthening the female game and supporting player development pathways from emerging talent through to performance level.
