The Academy Camp at St Paul’s Collegiate School in Hamilton recently brought together Northern Districts’ U18 Academy members, with both male and female players taking part in a programme designed to foster growth on and off the field.
The camp is a key part of the Academy structure, offering a supportive environment where players are exposed to quality coaching and development opportunities. In addition to technical cricket skills, the camp focuses on developing well-rounded young people who demonstrate resilience, teamwork, and confidence.
“The camp was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. The players brought great energy and showed real eagerness to learn, which created a positive environment. It was great to see them challenge themselves, support each other, and take plenty away from the sessions. From our perspective, it was really rewarding to see their skills, confidence, and camaraderie continue to develop across the course of the camp,” said Janice Fraser, Pathways Talent Operations Manager.
Over the course of the camp, players engaged in a wide range of activities including cricket skill sessions, strength and conditioning work, and educational workshops. Guest speakers also presented themes such as performance and resilience, giving players insight into the broader aspects of their development as athletes and individuals.
The Academy programme itself is by invitation only, with players identified through Northern Districts’ wider pathway initiatives.
